A heartbreaking picture emerged from northern Gaza, showing a child visibly exhausted while walking under the scorching sun, carrying a large luggage and a backpack. The child was among many Palestinians forcibly displaced by the Israeli occupation army.
The poignant image captured the profound impact of Israel's relentless military offensive on Palestinian children in Gaza, who endure unimaginable trauma.
These children are witnessing the constant bloodshed of their loved ones, apocalyptic destruction of their homeland, and are grappling with hunger and despair.
Palestinian journalist Hossam Shabat documented this heart-wrenching moment, shedding light on the harrowing reality faced by children in Gaza
Save the Children’s Rachael Cummings spoke to Al Jazeera about the severe trauma Palestinian children are enduring as they witness and are affected by daily bombings, injuries, and horrific deaths.
“Children in Gaza witness things that no child should ever see,” she said.
In the past 24 hours alone, Israeli airstrikes have claimed the lives of 111 Palestinians, as refugee shelters and residential buildings continue to be bombarded relentlessly.
Meanwhile, Lebanon is also bearing the brunt of Israeli aggression, with shopping malls, healthcare centers, and residential buildings targeted in repeated attacks.
The ongoing assault has resulted in the deaths of at least 3,481 people and injuries to 14,786 civilians in Lebanon so far.
The United Nations reported that Israel allowed only one shipment of aid into northern Gaza and subsequently attacked shelters where the aid had been distributed to Palestinians.
More than 11,000 children have been killed in Gaza, with 30% of the victims under the age of five. Thousands more are missing or have been separated from their parents amid the widespread forced displacement of Palestinians by the Israeli occupation.
The overall Palestinian death toll since the beginning of Israel’s war on Gaza has reached at least 43,846 with more than 103,740 wounded. Thousands more remain trapped under the rubble of destroyed buildings.
