A new cover of the Kaaba, known as the Kiswa, has been prepared and will be adorned on the Holy Home on the 1st of Muharram in a solemn ceremony in Saudi Arabia.

The Kiswa is the cloth that covers the walls and doors of the Kaaba and is considered a blessing and honor among Muslims.

The new cover was handed over to the special guard of the Kaaba by Prince Saud Bin Mishal Al-Saud, the deputy governor of the Makkah region.

The ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials, including the Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dr Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah and the deputy chief gatekeeper Abdul Malik bin Taha Al-Shaibi, who signed the document of the handover of the Kiswa.

The Kiswa is made of hundreds of kilograms of silk, silver, and gold threads and is changed annually. The ritual of changing the Kiswa was previously done during the month of Zil Hajj but was changed in 2022.
