In a first, women take part in Kiswa changing ceremony in Saudi Arabia

For the first time, female employees of the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque participated in the Kiswa changing ceremony held on Muharram 1 in Saudi Arabia.
The ceremony to install a new cover at the Holy Kaaba was organised in Grand Mosque on Sunday.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, almost 159 craftsmen, a team from the King Abdulaziz Complex for Holy Kaaba Kiswa, took part in the replacement event.
However, for the very first time, women also participated in the replacement at the Masjid al-Haram in Makkah.

The pictures of the female employees holding pieces of Kiswa were shared by the official X account of the Two Holy Mosques.
The new Kiswa is made of 670kg of natural silk, 120kg of gold thread, and 100kg of silver thread. The total weight of the Holy Home's cover is 1300 kilograms.
The cost of the new cover is almost around 20 million riyals, as per the details shared by The Holy Mosques.
