Indian-origin doctor arrested in California for sexually assaulting patient

The Milpitas police department in California has arrested Dr Sanjay Agarwal, a 68-year-old Indian-origin physician from San Jose, on charges of sexually assaulting a female patient during a medical consultation.
The police said that on September 16, 2025, a complaint was filed alleging that Dr. Agarwal had inappropriately touched a woman while she was under his care, according to Indian media reports.
Detectives from the department’s Criminal Investigations Bureau reviewed the allegations and concluded that sexual battery had occurred during the consultation.
On September 24, detectives arrested Dr. Agarwal at his medical office in Milpitas. He was later booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail on a sexual battery charge.
Authorities have appealed to the public for further information. Anyone who may have additional details or believes they may have been a victim of Dr. Agarwal has been urged to contact Milpitas Police detectives at (408) 586-2400.
