AI startup CEO arrested after body of 4-year-old son found in luggage

The CEO of an AI startup in India was arrested on Tuesday by the local police on charges of murdering her 4-year-old son.

Suchana Seth, the head of an AI startup in Bengaluru, was detained by the police in the Chitradurga district of Karnataka. She was returning from Goa by taxi with the body of her son in the luggage.

The 39-year-old woman booked a service apartment on January 6 in Candolim, North Goa. In the early hours of January 8, Ms Seth asked the apartment staff to arrange a taxi for her urgent journey to Bengaluru, Karnataka, which is over 600 kilometers away.

According to information provided by local police during a press conference, as Seth departed for her destination, the apartment staff discovered blood stains in the room. They promptly informed the North Goa police, who quickly arrived at the scene.

Police said that the police inspector who reached the apartment also spoke to the woman on the driver's phone.

When asked where her child was, the woman replied that she had left her child at a friend's house for a few days. The police inspector asked him for the friend's address, which proved false, raising alarm for the authorities.

The local police contacted the cab driver, instructing him to take the accused to the nearest police station without informing her. 

The police conducted an investigation of the suspect at a police station in Karnataka's Chitradurga district, discovering the body of the boy in a luggage bag. Ms Seth was charged with murder and transported back to Goa, where she will face trial in the district court.

The police reported that the child's body remained in Chitradurga district for autopsy, with authorities actively seeking to understand the motive behind the crime.
