A Spanish airline faced backlash from pro-Israel groups and social media users after reports emerged that a Jewish passenger was served a kosher meal bearing a note reading “Free Palestine.”

An image circulating online showed the meal box with the handwritten note placed on top. Viral posts claimed the incident occurred on an Iberia Airlines flight from Buenos Aires to Madrid.

DAIA, a Jewish organisation in Argentina, condemned the act, stating that other passengers also received kosher meal boxes marked with the abbreviation “FP.” The group called on the airline to issue an explanation.

So far, Iberia has not released an official statement, despite being accused of antisemitism by pro-Israel voices online.

The incident comes just months after another Spanish airline faced criticism from Israeli groups when 40 Jewish teenagers and their school instructor were removed from a flight. At the time, the airline denied any wrongdoing, saying the decision was taken to ensure the safety of other passengers.

“Writing ‘Free Palestine’ on a kosher food tray does nothing to help Palestinians, but it certainly intimidates Jewish passengers trapped on your plane for hours,” one pro-Israel user wrote on X. “Oh, and by the way, Iberia is part of the same airline group as Vueling, the company accused of kicking an entire group of Jewish children off a flight.”
