Special prayers were held in a southern Indian village on Tuesday for Kamala Harris's victory in the US presidential elections 2024.

In the temple of Thulasendrapuram, Tamil Nadu, villagers gathered, chanting sacred mantras and ringing bells, appealing to the divine for Kamala's success.

Harris's maternal grandfather P.V. Gopalan born in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, migrated to the capital Chennai, and after a long public service, retired on a high rank.

The priest ended the prayer by pronouncing “Kamala should win",  and Kamala’s name with his grandfather's name has been engraved on a stone that lists public donations.

However, a banner was hanging outside the temple, wishing good luck to the “daughter of the land” for her success.

“She is one of us, She will win,” Reuter quoted a local bodies representative, adding, “Once she wins, there will be a special gratitude prayer, and the food will also be donated at the temple.”

Two foreign tourists visiting India also participated in the prayers, wearing Kamala Freakin Harris shirts and chanting “Go Kamala”.

“I am very pro-Kamala, so I wanted to experience her native village,” said a foreign tourist woman, she also said that she voted for Kamala and, she wanted the first woman president to rule the US.
