A man has attempted to commit suicide by jumping from the upper floor of the Masjid Al Haram in Makkah, Khaleej Times reported on Tuesday.

According to the authorities, the man sustained heavy injuries and was shifted to the hospital of the holy city.

However, the authorities could not discover the reason behind the incident, nor the identity of the man was revealed by them, the publication said.

The Special Force for the Security of the Grand Mosque has initiated an investigation into the matter.

Earlier in 2017, a Saudi man had tried to set himself on fire in front of the Holy Kaaba, but the attempt was foiled by the security forces.

Later in 2018, three suicide-related incidents took place in Makkah, where a French man, a Bangladeshi man and a Saudi man ended their life jumping off the Holy mosque.
