An Indian man, eager to acquire an iPhone, placed an online order using the cash-on-delivery option. When the delivery man arrived to deliver the item, the customer killed him after receiving the phone.
The tragic incident occurred in Lucknow, where a man named Gajanan placed an online order for an iPhone priced at INR1.5 lacs, with the payment to be made upon delivery.
According to local police, a delivery man named Bharat Sahu went to deliver an order to Gajanan's house on September 23. But he was killed by the customer, who then disposed of his body in a canal with the help of an accomplice.
Sahu's family became increasingly concerned when he failed to return home for two days. On September 25, they filed a missing person report with the Chinhat police station.
Police attempted to track Sahu's location and examined the calls he made on his phone. They discovered Gajanan's number and contacted his friend Akash.
Akash, who assisted Gajanan in strangling Sahu, confessed his crime to the police.
The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team has been unable to locate the body of the deceased delivery man in the canal.
In 2023, a 20-year-old man stabbed a delivery boy to death after receiving his iPhone order at home in Karnataka. The man lacked the money to pay for the expensive phone, so he ended up killing the boy.
