Mother sells newborn for Rs150,000 to settle husband's loan

In a bizarre event, a cruel mother in India sold her newborn to pay off her husband's debts.

According to Indian media, a wife in the Ramnagar area of the state of Karnataka sold her one-month-old newborn to pay off her husband's debt.

According to the police, the couple has five children and the husband reported the child missing to the police.

The husband told the police that they had a debt of Rs150,000, a few days ago my wife asked to sell the newborn to a childless couple, which I strictly forbade, but when the son was not at home, the wife asked her, she said that the son was not well, sent to the hospital with a relative, the next day when the son did not come home, there was a quarrel between the two.

Acting on the husband's complaint, the woman was questioned by police and she first tried to mislead him but later confessed to selling the child and said that she sold her son to a woman from Bengaluru for Rs 1.5 lakh.

Police later arrested the child's mother.
