Former Israeli hostage Noa Argamani, who was taken captive by Hamas on October 7, 2023, refuted reports that claimed she was tortured by Palestinian resistance fighters.
Argamani clarified that her injuries were caused by an Israeli airstrike that hit Hamas fighters during her captivity, not by any physical abuse from her captors.
On Wednesday, she met with diplomats from G7 countries in Tokyo, where she shared her testimony of her time under Hamas custody and called for the release of the remaining captives.
However, following her testimony, Israeli media began misinterpreting her statements, creating the impression that she had been beaten by Hamas members.
"Every night I was falling asleep and thinking, this may be the last night of my life," 26-year-old Noa was quoted by Israeli media as saying.
"And until the moment I was [rescued]… I just did not believe that I was still surviving," she added.
As these statements circulated on social media, Israelis accused Hamas of allegedly assaulting her.

“I cannot ignore what the Israeli media has done to me over the past 24 hours, taking my words out of context.

On Friday, Noa took to Instagram to denounce such claims. Writing in Hebrew, she expressed concern over how the Israeli media had taken her words “out of context in the past 24 hours.”
“Al Qassam Brigades’ members did not hit me while I was in captivity, nor did they cut my hair; I was injured by the collapse of a wall caused by an Israeli airstrike,” an English translation of her Instagram post read.
“I emphasise that no one hit me during captivity, but I was injured all over my body after the airstrike,” she clarified.
"I am a victim of the October 7th incident, and I refuse to be victimised again by the Israeli media," Argamani concluded.
Noa Argamani and her boyfriend were taken hostage, along with other Israelis, from the Supernova music festival during the October 7 attacks on the Gaza border.
