Palestinian children Karam and his sister Sabah in Gaza are experiencing their first Ramadan without their father, deeply feeling his absence as they observe the holy month in a refugee camp. They recalled how he always provided for them, making his loss even more painful during this sacred time.
The siblings grew teary-eyed as they remembered their father, describing his absence as unbearable. “He used to bring us everything we needed,” Karam recalled, explaining how his father worked tirelessly day and night to support his family.
Sabah also became emotional as she reminisced about the meals they once shared with their father.
The children expressed their sorrow over having to wear torn clothes, with Karam adding, “The hardest thing is that our father is no longer with us.” He painfully recalled how his father would bring them new clothes, even in the most difficult circumstances.
Karam further shared how his father would return home late at night, waking them up with gifts and the “best things.”
Thousands of Palestinian children in Gaza have been orphaned due to Israel’s ongoing war, left to endure unimaginable hardships. Alongside the emotional devastation, they continue to suffer from harsh weather, food shortages, disease outbreaks, and the dire conditions created by Israel’s relentless military offensive and aid blockade in the besieged enclave.
