Palestinian resistance fighters killed three Israeli army majors during clashes in northern Gaza, Tel Aviv's media confirmed on Thursday.
A statement released by the Israeli military stated that the reservist soldiers were killed in combat with the Palestinian group.
“The names of the three fallen soldiers, whose families have been notified, have been cleared for publication,” the statement read.
The deceased soldiers, all holding the rank of major, were part of the Logistical Support Unit 5460, affiliated with the Israeli 460th Armored "Bnei Or" Brigade.
The three soldiers were killed when an explosive device detonated as Israeli forces continued their advance in northern Gaza, laying siege to Jabalia.
Two of the soldiers were 32 years old, while the third was 37.
According to the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF), 734 Israeli soldiers have been killed and 4,700 wounded since their military offensive in Gaza began on October 7, 2023.
As per sources, the occupation army plans to isolate Jabalia, Beit Lahiya, and Beit Hanoun from the rest of Gaza to tighten its control over the northern part of the Strip.
The Israeli army has intensified its attacks on the enclave despite the orders of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to cease military operations in the Gaza Strip.
The overall Palestinian death toll since the beginning of Israel’s war on Gaza has reached at least 42,814 with more than 97,886 wounded. Thousands more remain trapped under the rubble of destroyed buildings.
