An elderly Palestinian woman was violently attacked by an Israeli settler while harvesting olives in the northeastern area of Ramallah, West Bank. The disturbing incident was captured on camera by an American journalist, showing the settler striking the woman on the head with a stick.

The video went viral, sparking outrage and shedding light on the persistent violence Palestinians face from Israeli settlers on their own land.

According to Quds News Network, the assailant was identified as a member of an Israeli militia. The same attacker also reportedly assaulted two foreign nationals present at the site.

The attack took place in the town of Turmus Ayya, where Palestinians were busy in the annual olive harvest.

The video showed the settler running toward the group, targeting the woman, who stumbled and fell as he continued to strike her. The American journalist was heard shouting at the settler, warning him to stop, but the attacker continued before fleeing the scene.

Bystanders rushed to help the injured woman and transported her to a nearby ambulance. She was later admitted to the Consultative Hospital, where her condition was reported to be stable following treatment.

Over the past two years, Israeli settlers have carried out at least 7,154 attacks against Palestinians.

According to The Associated Press (AP), Israeli forces have also increased checkpoints at multiple locations, restricting the movement of Palestinians at several crossings during certain hours.

The UN humanitarian agency (OCHA) reported that Israel has established 249 additional checkpoints in the West Bank since the start of its war on Gaza, bringing the total to 793 checkpoints.

These measures have severely disrupted the daily lives of Palestinians, who continue to face restrictions and violence without justification.

Israeli forces also launched offensives in refugee camps in Jenin, Tulkarem, and Tubas, killing more than 30 Palestinians as of Februry 17.

Since October 7, Israeli army and settlers have killed over 1,056 Palesitnians and injured at least 10,300 in the occupied West Bank.
