US President Donald Trump repealed a Biden-era law that allowed transgender individuals to serve in the military. This revocation is expected to pave the way for a complete ban on non-binary individuals from enlisting in the armed forces.

According to US media reports, there are currently between 9,000 and 14,000 transgender people serving in the US military.

On Monday, President Trump signed an executive order reversing the Biden administration's policy and officially banning transgender individuals from military service.

This is not the first time Trump has introduced such measures.

During his first term as president, he implemented a similar ban on transgender individuals in the military. However, when President Joe Biden took office in 2021, he repealed Trump’s order, allowing transgenders to serve openly.

In another move, the Trump administration has also banned the flying of Pride and Black Lives Matter flags at US embassies, restricting the display to only the American flag.

Additionally, Admiral Linda Fagan, the first woman to lead the US Coast Guard, has been dismissed from her role.

Shortly after being sworn in, US President-elect Donald Trump began implementing key policies he had announced during his election campaign. He signed executive orders declaring that there are only two biological genders and barring diversity programs.

The latest order issued by the Trump administration designated there are only two genders male and female and declared that cannot be changed.

NBC News quoted officials defending the order as a measure to counter gender ideology extremism and restore biological truth to the federal government.

In 2022, the Biden administration allowed US citizens to be able to select the gender-neutral “X” as a marker on their passports.
