Trump drives dump truck after Biden calls his supporters “garbage”

Republican candidate Donald Trump drove a dump truck at his election rally on Wednesday, hitting back at the US President after he allegedly called Trump’s supporters “garbage.”

Trump stepped off his private plane in Green Bay, Wisconsin, donned an orange safety vest, and climbed into a garbage truck bearing his campaign logo, aiming to roast his political rivals Kamala Harris and Joe Biden.

Peering out of the truck window, Trump asked reporters, “How do you like my garbage truck?”

Speaking to the press, Trump said the move was “in honor of Kamala and Joe Biden” and criticised the president’s remarks, saying, “He should be ashamed of himself.”

The controversy over the term "garbage" began after a pro-Republican comedian at Trump’s rally in Madison Square Garden on Sunday referred to Puerto Rico as a "floating island of garbage" and made other racially insensitive jokes.

The comedian’s comments came after a well-known Puerto Rican comic endorsed Kamala Harris for president.

Trump distanced himself from the racist remarks at his rally, saying, “I don’t know anything about the comedian.”

In response to the comments made at Trump’s rally, Joe Biden denounced the statements during a call organised by the Hispanic advocacy group Voto Latino.

“The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters. His demonidation of Latinos is unconscionable, and it’s un-American. It’s totally contrary to everything we stand for,” Biden said.

However, Biden’s office later clarified that the president was referring to the comedian’s comments and not labeling Trump’s supporters as garbage.

Earlier, while discussing immigration in the US Trump described the country as the “garbage can of the world.”
