At least 24 people were killed as the United States launched large-scale airstrikes on Yemen, targeting Iran-backed Houthi fighters. President Donald Trump warned the group, stating that "their time is up", while urging Iran to stop supporting the Houthis immediately.

Residents reported intense explosions, with one describing them as “violent”, shaking neighborhoods and terrifying civilians.

The Houthi political bureau condemned the airstrikes as a “war crime” and vowed to retaliate.

The Houthis have escalated attacks on Red Sea shipping since October 2023, citing solidarity with Palestinians in the Israel-Gaza conflict.

The US strikes, the first major military action in Yemen under Trump’s presidency, highlight growing tensions between Washington, Tehran, and regional actors.

The US military has increasingly responded to Houthi aggression, citing threats to global trade and regional stability. Analysts warn that the latest escalation could further strain US-Iran relations and widen the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

The airstrikes underscore the growing tensions between Washington, Tehran, and regional actors, with concerns rising over the potential for broader military confrontations in the region.
