“You’re complicit in Gaza genocide:” military veteran lashes out at US congress

A military veteran, Capt Josephine Guilbeau, strongly criticised the US Congress for its support of Israel amid the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

Capt Guilbeau, dressed in her military uniform, spoke during a congressional hearing on veteran affairs.

She pointed out that while the US continues to spend billions on Israel, many former military veterans are struggling without adequate government support.

“You, as Congress, are complicit in the genocide in Gaza,” she declared, adding, “meanwhile veterans are homeless and committing suicide with more budget cuts on the way.”

Having served for 17 years in American intelligence, Josephine condemned lawmakers for destroying moral values and “jeopardising national security.”

“Israel is burning children alive,” she shouted passionately as the Congress speaker attempted to interrupt her.

“Shame on all of you,” she continued, accusing the government of crushing America’s core values by supporting Israel’s military offensive.

“May God give you the moral courage to do the right thing,” she said as she was escorted out of the room.

“Have her removed from the building,” the Congress speaker directed the authorities.

This is not the first time government officials and military veterans in the US have objected to their government’s support for Israel, despite its war crimes against innocent civilians in Gaza.

The overall Palestinian death toll since the beginning of Israel’s war on Gaza has reached at least 45,097 with more than 107,244 wounded. Thousands more remain trapped under the rubble of destroyed buildings.
