Sanjay Leela Bhansali says he wanted to cast Mahira, Fawad, and Imran Abbas for Heeramandi

Renowned Indian director Sanjay Leela Bhansali said he had considered casting Pakistani actors Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan, and Imran Abbas for his web series Heeramandi.

During the premiere of the big-budget show in Los Angeles, Bhansali opened up about his vision for a web series.

He shared that Heeramandi was a project that was "in his mind for 18 years." 

The director said that initially, he wanted to make this project with Rekha, Kareena Kapoor, and Rani Mukharji.

Bhansali also surprised everyone by revealing that he had also mulled casting Pakistani actors for Heeramandi. 

“At one point, I considered on Mahira, Fawad, Imran’s name, but then it all changed.”

Bhansali expressed satisfaction with the final cast of his series, which dedicated approximately 350 days to the project.
