A bike rider of online food-delivery service, Foodpanda, was fined more than two dozen challans after violating traffic safety rules in Lahore for delivering orders timely.

A spokesperson of traffic police in the provincial capital said the rider had violated traffic signal rules at least 28 times.

The traffic police warden has imposed a fine of Rs10,000 through e-challan and taken the motorcycle’s verification papers and license into his custody.

According to police, the rider violated traffic rules in a bid to deliver food on time.

On the other hand, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Amara Athar directed officials to issue a challan of Rs2,000 to motorcyclists who fail to wear a helmet.

The CTO vowed not to allow motorbike riders on the roads of the city without helmets.

The officer also barred helmet violators from entering the main arteries of the city, including Mall Road and others.
