Karachi has reported the first confirmed case of monkeypox in Sindh, according to health department sources.
A patient suspected of having the virus was admitted to Jinnah Hospital, where samples were sent to Dow Hospital for testing. Laboratory results confirmed the presence of monkeypox.
Sources revealed that the patient, a 28-year-old resident of Shah Latif Town, contracted the virus after his wife—who had a travel history abroad—first exhibited symptoms.
The patient is now in an isolation ward, and strict precautionary measures have been implemented.
