The grieving parents of late Pakistani actress Humaira Asghar said that their daughter’s death was not natural but a result of foul play, alleging she was murdered out of personal enmity.
In their first interview since her death, Humaira’s parents rejected media reports suggesting they were estranged from their daughter. They described having a close bond with her and denied any claims that she was struggling financially.
Recalling her last conversation with Humaira in August 2024, her mother said the actress was crying and deeply distressed, though she did not reveal what was troubling her.
“After that call, all her phone numbers were suddenly blocked. I called her a thousand times, but there was no response,” she said.

When asked why they didn’t immediately alert authorities, Humaira’s mother explained that the family had no contacts in Karachi, where Humaira lived, and were unaware of her exact location. She admitted, “It was a mistake on our part that we did not report her absence to the authorities. But Ramadan and a death in the family diverted our attention, and time slipped by.”
Her father added that Humaira would often travel abroad for extended periods, sometimes for up to four months, which is why they assumed she might be out of the country.
Rejecting claims of financial hardship, Humaira’s father said, “My son visited her flat and found her wardrobe filled with new clothes. She regularly gave charity to an orphanage. How can someone like that not afford rent?”
The family also expressed frustration with Humaira’s neighbors, criticising them for their lack of concern. “They claimed to have often heard screams from her apartment. If that’s true, why didn’t anyone check on her?” her mother questioned.

Despite the parents’ suspicions, police investigations so far indicate that the death appears to be natural, with no immediate evidence pointing to foul play.
However, the case remains under active investigation. Authorities are currently analysing her phones and laptop, while the chemical examination of her body is still pending.
