A Karachi court on Wednesday directed the police to submit the post-mortem report of actor and model Humaira Asghar Ali, whose decomposed body was recovered from an apartment in DHA Karachi.
The directive was issued by Additional Sessions Judge (South) while hearing an application seeking a murder FIR over the suspicious death of the actress.
In response to the court’s notice, DSP Abid Hussain Soomro submitted a detailed report, stating that an inquiry team formed on the directives of the SSP South under the supervision of SP Clifton is investigating the matter.
Statements of residents of the building where the deceased lived were recorded, but "no fruitful result" has been obtained so far, the report said.
The report further stated that the legal heirs are in contact with the police, and the investigation is ongoing. The inquiry officer, SI Amjad Ali of Gizri Police Station, requested the court to pass further appropriate orders, assuring that they would be complied with.
The court directed the inquiry officer to appear in person along with the post-mortem report at the next hearing, scheduled for July 22.
The 32-year-old actor was found dead on July 8 in her flat located in Defence Phase VI’s Ittehad Commercial area, where she had been residing alone.
