Renowned YouTuber Rajab Butt faced backlash online after urging his fans to help his newly released song reach one million views 'in the name of Allah.'

Rajab Butt, Hamza Malik and Hira Mani released their song, Over You, on YouTube four days ago.

Following its release, Rajab Butt appealed to his followers to help the music video reach one million views.

“1 millions mujhe chahiye Allah, Nabi ke sadqay mein [I need 1 million, for the sake of Allah and the Prophet],” he said, adding, ’Sirf Allah nabi ke sadqay mein humein apni puri power, puri effort daalni hai [Only for the sake of Allah and the Prophet, we must put in all our power, all our effort].”

His remarks sparked anger on social media, with many users condemning him for inappropriately using religion to promote a song.

"Why doesn’t this man think before speaking?" one user commented.

Others accused him of playing the "religion card" for personal gain.
