Renowned actor Shamoon Abbasi has reflected on the tragic death of actress Humaira Asghar and questioned the response of her parents, particularly their criticism of the people of Karachi for not checking up on their daughter, despite not doing so themselves.

In a recent statement, Humaira’s mother expressed frustration toward her daughter’s neighbors in Karachi, accusing them of not checking on her well-being despite living nearby.

She stated that she had called Humaira "a thousand times" during the nine months of her disappearance, but never received a response. She also admitted that the family failed to verify her condition in person.

Shamoon Abbasi also said that the people of Karachi did not abandon Humaira Asghar, noting that many stepped forward to claim her body and assist with her burial after her family initially refused to do so.

He pointed out that while many may not have been in direct contact with her, those who were close to her, failed to check on her well-being.

‘Our daughter didn’t die a natural death:’ Humaira Asghar’s parents break silence

"There were several people in Karachi who came forward to help arrange Humaira's burial when her family refused to claim her body," Abbasi said. "We were all in contact with each other, and even went to the morgue where her body was kept."

Abbasi added that Humaira's death carries an important message, a reminder to check in on loved ones regularly. He urged people to maintain regular contact with friends and family, emphasising that despite busy routines, taking a moment to ask about someone’s well-being is crucially important.

"Her passing leaves a powerful lesson for everyone. to make sure you reach out to the people you care about. A simple check-in can make a huge difference," he said.

Humaira Asghar’s decomposed body was discovered in her Karachi apartment when a landlord and bailiff arrived with police to vacate the flat over non-payment of rent.

According to medical reports, she had passed away on October 7, 2024, and her body had remained undiscovered for over nine months, with no alarm raised by her family, friends, or neighbors during that period.

While the investigation into her death is ongoing, initial medical and chemical examination reports showed no signs of poisoning or sedatives, suggesting that she likely died of natural causes.
