MULTAN: Two more bodies have been recovered from the Jalalpur Pirwala boat accident, raising the death toll to seven, rescue officials confirmed on Friday.

According to Geo News, a private boat carrying 28 people capsized two days ago. Rescue teams immediately launched an operation, saving 19 people, while five bodies were initially recovered.

Rescue workers stated that the bodies of two additional victims have now been retrieved.

Officials added that two survivors managed to cling to a tree during the incident and have since been safely rescued.

The tragic mishap occurred in the early hours between Wednesday and Thursday night.

Authorities noted that similar incidents involving flood-hit communities using private boats have been reported in Punjab.

Following the accidents, authorities in Bahawalpur have ordered the seizure of private boats to integrate them into official rescue operations to ensure safety and prevent further tragedies.
