A judicial magistrate in Karachi has issued a written order of today's hearing in the murder case registered at Baghdadi police station against alleged drug dealer Anmol alias Pinky.

According to the written judgment, the court noted that the suspect did not complain of maltreatment while being in police custody.

The investigating officer sought physical remand, arguing that the suspect was allegedly operating a large drug network across Pakistan and further interrogation was necessary to trace other accomplices. He also claimed that narcotics supplied by the accused were recovered from a deceased individual in the case.

The court record stated that the defence counsel opposed the physical remand, arguing that the suspect had been in police custody for the past 22 days and was being subjected to forced or fabricated statements. The defence also claimed that the labels found on drug packets were fake and that the suspect had no direct link to such recoveries.

However, the court observed that the case pertains to murder and, based on initial evidence, further investigation is required. The order noted that “prima facie evidence exists against the suspect”.

The court granted two-day physical remand of Anmol alias Pinky to Baghdadi police and directed that she be produced before the relevant court on May 18.

The court also instructed police to conduct a transparent and lawful investigation and submit a progress report.
