Court extends physical remand of Imran, Bushra Bibi in Toshakhana case

A National Accountability Court on Monday extended the physical remand of incarcerated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi on Toshakhana reference.
Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Ali Warraich resumed the hearing adjourned on July 14. He approved the Investigation office's demand to extend the couple’s physical remand.
During the proceeding, the Nab team presented the investigation report before the court, and the IO requested the court to allow them a 14-day remand of the couple for further investigation.
However, the court extended physical remand until July 29.
Earlier, the accountability court approved an eight-day remand of the PTI founder and his wife and adjourned the hearing till July 22.
However, the Toshakhana reference was re-opened after their acquittal in the un-Islamic nikkah case. in which additional and session Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka approved their appeals against conviction.
Apart from this, the reserve seats' verdict was also pronounced in favour of PTI, in which the court, with an 8-5 majority, acknowledged that the PTI has the right to obtain reserve seats in the National Assembly.
Meanwhile, Imran Khan was also arrested in the May 9 riot case on July 14. According to the sources, a total of 16 cases were registered against the PTI founder.
