Field Marshal Asim Munir, Qatari defence chief pledge deeper military cooperation

Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs , Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan bin Ali Al Thani, met Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir in Doha. Senior Qatari military officials were also present at the meeting.
During the talks, both sides discussed regional security and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening defence cooperation.
They agreed to broaden military-to-military engagement through training programs, joint exercises, and capacity-building initiatives. The two countries also underscored the importance of working together to promote peace and stability in the region.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif met Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani on the sidelines of the emergency Arab-Islamic summit in Doha, which was convened following the recent Israeli attack on Qatar. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir also attended the meeting.

The Prime Minister strongly condemned Israel’s assault, describing it as a blatant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and international law. He urged the Muslim Ummah to stand united against aggression and called for an immediate end to Israeli hostilities in the Middle East.
On the sidelines of the summit, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir also held a bilateral meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. Both leaders expressed solidarity with Qatar and emphasised the urgent need for unity among Muslim nations in confronting Israeli aggression.
