The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) on Wednesday dismissed reports that Pakistan had closed its border crossings with Iran, confirming that all entry points remain open and operational.
The clarification came after media reports claimed that Islamabad had shut its border with Iran indefinitely amid rising regional tensions linked to the Israel-Iran conflict.
In a statement, the Foreign Office said: “This is to clarify that contrary to some media reports, all border crossings along the Pakistan-Iran border remain fully operational.”
Earlier this week, local authorities in Balochistan claimed that all five border points located in Chaghi, Washuk, Kech, Panjgur, and Gwadar districts had been closed. Officials in Quetta had reportedly stated that the crossings were suspended for an indefinite period due to the volatile regional situation.
However, federal officials confirmed that cross-border movement and trade continue as normal, particularly at the busy Taftan crossing. Travel, trade, and security coordination remain uninterrupted at all designated border points.
Pakistan and Iran share a 900-kilometre-long border, a key trade corridor and strategic link for both nations. In recent years, both countries have introduced measures aimed at improving border security and streamlining the flow of goods and people.
