Pakistan's stunning Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) region has been recognized as one of the top 25 must-visit destinations for 2025, as reported by the US-based broadcaster CNN.
Situated within the majestic Karakoram Mountains, GB is home to some of the highest peaks globally, attracting adventure seekers from around the world.
CNN Travel emphasized the region's charm, stating, “The Gilgit-Baltistan region in the Karakoram Mountains isn’t the easiest place to reach — flights can be unpredictable, and roads may be seasonally inaccessible — but it offers peaks as enticing as a lemon meringue pie.”
This region features five of the 14 'eight-thousander' peaks, including K2, the second-highest mountain in the world, which is famous for its extreme challenges and perilous conditions.
Despite its extraordinary natural splendor, the rugged landscape and limited infrastructure necessitate guided travel in GB. “Hiking here makes the Himalayas seem like a stroll in Central Park,” CNN Travel noted.
Other locations included in the CNN Travel list are Almaty in Kazakhstan, India’s Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Bolivia, Chemnitz in Germany, Morocco’s Rabat, Canada’s Vancouver Island, and Turkiye’s Kaçkar Mountains.
