The government has announced a plan to convert the electricity systems of schools in the federal capital to green energy, said an official in the Ministry of Education.

A spokesperson in the ministry said the plan will be executed in 100 primary schools in Islamabad, initially.

The project, aimed to generate a sustainable energy system with the lowest cost, is expected to be completed within two months.

“We hope that 100 primary schools in the ICT will be transferred to solar energy until the end of 2024,” the spokesperson added.

Moreover, it is another step of authority towards eco-friendly measures that could assist the authorities in declining carbon emissions from the environment.

“The project would not only shrink the cost of the power generation but also provide the sustainable biodegradable energy system,” the official said.

The solar panels will be designed as per the requirements of the schools and will be installed on the rooftops.

The money that would be saved from green energy will be expended on the upgradation of educational facilities across the capital.

Earlier, in an attempt to curb carbon emissions in the federal capital, the interior minister had announced the ban on petrol bikes and a plan to bring electric buses for mass transportation.
