The Islamabad High Court (IHC) termed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist Sanam Javed’s arrest "unlawful" and issued her release orders on Thursday.

Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb heard the petition of Ms Javed, seeking release from a fresh arrest.

During the proceedings, the court raised concerns and asked Ms Javed’s counsel to ensure that his client would not use inappropriate language.

“I have seen her on the internet using inappropriate language,” Justice Mian Gul said.

However, Sanam Javed also apologised to the court for her harsh words against her opponents.

Following the lawyer's assurance, the court allowed Sanam to go home.

The Attorney General mentioned that the Balochistan police did not file a remand request, so Ms Javed is now free to return to her native province.

Refraining the authority from arresting the PTI activist, the court directed the Attorney General to take an FIR back registered against Sanam Javed in Balochistan within two days.

“Sanam Javed is free to return to her native province,” Sanam's counsel said while speaking to the media outside the court.

Sanam Javed was re-arrested on July 14, immediately after her release by the IHC.

She was initially arrested on May 9, 2023, in a vandalism case, and spent a long period in various jails across the country.
