Punjab became the first province in Pakistan to successfully transfer a patient from Mianwali to Rawalpindi by using an air ambulance service, said a state-run news service Radio Pakistan.
The 40-year-old Haleema Bibi got critically injured after falling from the roof of her house. She was swiftly airlifted to Rawalpindi Hospital to ensure timely medication.
“The first air ambulance in the history of Pakistan has started its work,” said Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz in an X post.
She added the patient was immediately rescued and transferred to Pindi in "Golden Hour".

“The successful transfer of Haleema Bibi is a reflection of our dedication to providing timely and efficient medical care. The air ambulance service will be operational throughout Punjab, ensuring that no one is deprived of necessary treatment due to lack of resources,” she said in a separate statement.
A spokesperson for the service said the rescue operation was a part of the trial phase for the air ambulance, and the formal inauguration of the air ambulance service is expected to take place soon.
Haleema’s family also expressed gratitude and praised CM Maryam for the service.
“Maryam Nawaz Sharif has been an angel of mercy to us, her commitment to ensuring the best possible care for every woman in Punjab is truly remarkable,” said the family.
Dr Razoon Naseer supervised the successful operation of the patient in the Rawalpindi hospital.
