A settlement has been reached between the parties involved in the Boat Basin Food Street assault case, DIG South Ali Raza confirmed.
Complainant Barkat Soomro has agreed to withdraw his complaint, according to local media reports.
Despite the reconciliation, legal proceedings will continue, and police remain committed to arresting the primary suspect, Shah Zain Marri, if found in Karachi. The case’s challan will be submitted to the court.
The assault, which took place on February 19, involved Marri and his guards allegedly ramming a citizen’s car and attacking him at gunpoint.
The incident gained attention after CCTV footage went viral, leading to police action. While five suspects have been arrested, the main accused is believed to have fled to Balochistan.
Earlier in the day, South Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Asad Raza has requested the Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) to seek the Balochistan government's intervention in arresting Shahzain Marri for assaulting an individual with his guards in Karachi's Boat Basin area.
The incident occurred after a Toyota Surf stopped abruptly in the middle of the road and deliberately collided with a vehicle behind it on February 19.
However, the driver of the Surf allegedly hurled abuses at them before overtaking their car. Moments later, the vehicle sped ahead, reversed, and intentionally rammed into their car from the front.

Following the collision, several armed men stepped out of the Surf and viciously attacked the two victims. One of them sustained a head injury after being struck with the butt of a gun.
