Karachi experienced the coldest night of the season on Tuesday, with temperatures plummeting to 3.5°C, according to weathercaster Jawad Memon.

A weather advisory shared on Wednesday stated that the northwestern and suburban areas of Karachi recorded temperatures ranging from 3.5°C to 4°C last night, while the mercury dropped to 5°C to 7°C in the central and southern areas of the city.

According to the report, icy winds blowing from Balochistan further intensified the cold wave in Karachi. Despite the moderate speed of the winds, the city felt significantly colder last night.

It added that the feels-like temperature was 2°C to 4°C colder than the actual temperature due to the freezing winds.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) recorded a minimum temperature of 6.5°C at Jinnah Terminal, 6.7°C in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, 9°C in Shahrah-e-Faisal, 8.5°C in Manipur, and 9.1°C in Bin Qasim.

Sharing today’s forecast, the Met Office stated that the weather is expected to remain cold and dry in the city for the next 24 hours.

The minimum temperature in Karachi is likely to drop 7°C to 9°C, with light winds blowing from the northeast and humidity at 54 percent.

Earlier, it was predicted that the current cold wave would grip Karachi until January 9, with temperatures expected to drop to single digits during this period.
