The latest cold wave is expected to hit Karachi tonight, bringing a harsh chill of the ongoing winter season, with temperatures predicted to drop to as low as 3-5°C in the coming days, according to weather analyst Jawad Memon.
“Siberian winds will enter Karachi, causing a rapid decline in temperatures. Daytime temperatures are expected to range between 22-25°C, while nighttime temperatures could drop to 5-8°C, gradually intensifying the cold,” said Memon.
He further stated that suburban areas, including Malir, DHA City, Surjani, and the airport vicinity, may experience temperatures as low as 4-5°C.
“In Karachi’s central and eastern districts, temperatures might plunge to 7-9°C, while southern areas are also expected to witness a drop to 10-12°C,” he added.
Memon forecasted that this cold wave is expected to persist for an entire week after which another winter system is likely to hit Karachi.
Earlier, in the morning, Karachi residents woke up to a cooler morning on Saturday as the city received its first winter rain, with light drizzle reported across several parts of the port city.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had earlier predicted that Karachi would feel a renewed winter chill starting January 4, with temperatures expected to drop to single digits.
