Amid the hot weather, Karachi is expected to receive a new spell of monsoon rains from tomorrow (July 24), a weather analyst said on Tuesday.
According to Jawad Memon, the ongoing monsoon spell will end today (Tuesday) after some light to moderate downpours in the evening.
Memon said the port city is expected to witness a new spell between Wednesday and Sunday, depending on the weather system developing in the Bay of Bengal, India’s Gujral coast.
“Another spell of hot and humid weather, starting from July 24, at the same time a rain system developing in the Bay of Bengal might affect Sindh from July 24 to 28,” he added.
The weatherman said the system is likely to hit Indian Gujrat first and then move towards the port city, "but the sea breezes could interrupt the system again".
Last week, several parts of Karachi witnessed light to heavy rain, however, the downpours could bring down humidity level in the metropolis.
According to the Pakistan Meteorologist Department (PMD), the weather on Tuesday is expected to remain hot and humid in most districts of the province.
The mercury is expected to go up to 38°C in Karachi. The humidity level in the air is 82 percent.
