As the cold weather turned milder, Karachi is expected to experience winter chill again from January 4, with temperatures dropping to single digits, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasted on Thursday.

The Met Office stated that a system, expected to enter Balochistan, would bring rain and affect the weather in Karachi. Under the influence of this system, icy winds are expected to blow in Karachi.

The daily weather forecast predicted that the temperature in Karachi would remain normal, with dry conditions and slightly cold winds.

The weather department recorded a 13.5 minimum temperature early Thursday, with 58 percent humidity and winds blowing from the north at six kilometers per hour.

Meanwhile, other parts of the country, including Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, will remain under the influence of a rain-bearing system, with snowfall expected in Azad Kashmir.

In addition, fog and smog are expected to affect various cities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, while severe cold is expected in Tharparkar and parts of Sindh.

According to the Met Office, intense winter conditions are prevailing in several cities, with temperatures reaching minus 9°C in Skardu and Gopis, minus 8°C in Leh, minus 6°C in Gilgit, minus 5°C in Astor, and minus 4°C in Hunza and Chitral.
