The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted a spell of duststorms and rain-thundershowers with intermittent gaps across upper and central parts of the country from June 13 to 16.
The current spell of extreme heat is expected to ease during this period, offering long-awaited relief to residents affected by the prolonged heatwave.
According to the PMD, moist currents are already penetrating the upper regions of the country, while a westerly weather system is likely to enter by June 13.
These two systems are expected to trigger widespread weather activity, including rain, duststorms, and isolated hailstorms.
From June 13 to 16, areas likely to experience these weather conditions include Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galliyat, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Malakand, Mansehra, Battagram, Shangla, Kohistan, and Abbottabad.
Similar activity is also expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mianwali, Sargodha, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Faisalabad, Jhang, and Toba Tek Singh, along with parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa such as Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Charsadda, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Kohat, Bannu, Karak, Dera Ismail Khan, and Waziristan.
Rain and duststorm activity is also forecast for districts in southern Punjab and upper Sindh, including Zhob, Barkhan, and Musakhel in Balochistan.
The PMD has warned that windstorms, dust-thunderstorms, hail, and lightning may cause damage to vulnerable structures such as electricity poles, trees, solar panels, and vehicles, especially in the upper and central regions, including Islamabad.
With the heatwave conditions expected to diminish during the forecast period, the PMD has advised farmers to adjust their crop management activities accordingly. The public, especially travelers and tourists, have been urged to take precautionary measures to ensure safety during the spell of unsettled weather.
Authorities have been requested to remain on high alert and take all necessary precautions to deal with any emergencies that may arise during this period.
