The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert warning of heavy rainfall and potential flooding across Sindh. According to the NDMA, several districts, including Karachi, Thatta, Sujawal, Badin, Tharparkar, Hyderabad, Nawabshah, and Dadu, are likely to experience intense rain within the next 12 to 24 hours.

Officials cautioned that the current rain system could persist for the next two to three days, increasing the risk of flash floods in various parts of the province.

Low-lying and coastal areas, particularly Karachi and Hyderabad, may face severe flooding, the NDMA added.

Authorities urged residents to remain alert, avoid waterlogged areas, and take necessary precautions to minimise the impact of the heavy rainfall.

Intermittent heavy rainfall in Karachi since Tuesday morning has submerged parts of the city, triggering urban flooding. Low-lying areas have been inundated, and ten people have lost their lives in various incidents.

In response to the situation, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah announced a public holiday in Karachi today.

Officials reported that major highways have been partially cleared, but warned of the possibility of more rainfall on Wednesday. The public holiday has been declared to ease the burden on residents.

Heavy rainfall also affected internet and mobile services across the city. The ongoing downpour continues to strain Karachi’s infrastructure, with traffic disruption and power outages compounding the challenges faced by citizens.
