The Pakistan Post Office closed the booking and parcel services in the United States due to the non-payment of compensation to American shipping companies.
Orders via E-commerce services have also been cancelled due to the closure of bookings, leaving the national exchequer in the loss of thousands of rupees.
However, Pakistani products to the USA are being delivered as per the routine.
“The closure came after the non-payment of compensation to American shipping country,” said the sources.
According to the authorities, the booking was closed due to the lack of proper parcel packing.
However, in an inquiry report, the director general revealed that the investigators found several flaws in returning mail from the US, including deficiencies and missing electronic advance data.
It said small-sized registered letters were being sent to the US with and without ITMATT, but it is facing rejection by USPS.
The incident happened after the booking staff filled in the wrong booking information, leading the parcel service to closure.
However, small and large businesses demanded the government restore the service and ensure the resumption of the delivery to the US.
Meanwhile, the booking of parcels and mail to the United Kingdom and other countries continues as per the route.
