After a slight improvement in the rule of law, Pakistan climbed to 129th among 142 countries in the world, according to a report published by The World Justice Project.

The annual Rule of Law Index analysed eight factors of nations, including constraints of government power, absence of corruption, open government, fundamental rights, order and security, regulatory enforcement, civil justice, and criminal justice.

In the report, Pakistan has been placed at 140 for Order and Security, out of 142.

The three factors measuring the country's performance are its crime-control rate, protection from armed conflict, and use of violence to resolve conflict.

In the said factor, only two countries, Mali and Nigeria, were below Pakistan.

However, the country was ranked 103 for constraints on government power, 120 for corruption, 106 for open government, 125 for fundamental rights, 127 for regulatory enforcement, 128 for civil justice, and 98 for criminal justice.

Moreover, Pakistan and Afghanistan were ranked bottom among six South Asian countries.

However, Pakistan got an overall ranking of 129 out of 142 nations on Rule of Law Index.

Apart from this, the report indicated that the rule of law in the world has declined for the seventh year in a row.

According to the survey results, the rule of law weakened in more than half of the countries surveyed.
