Amidst escalating conflict between Iran and Israel, Pakistan has decided to evacuate the families of its diplomats and some non-essential staff from its embassy in Iran.
According to the FO official, the move is a precautionary step aimed at ensuring the safety of staff amid the ongoing conflict.
“The families are being relocated as a precautionary measure,” the official stated, adding that selected non-essential diplomatic staff are also being recalled temporarily.
Despite these adjustments, the Pakistani Embassy in Tehran, along with its consulates across Iran, will continue operating without interruption. The official emphasized that Pakistan’s diplomatic missions remain fully operational.
The conflict erupted after Israel launched airstrikes, claiming Iran was nearing the completion of a nuclear weapon.
The surprise assault reportedly killed a significant portion of Iran’s senior military leadership and key nuclear scientists, with more than 220 fatalities reported in total within Iran.
In retaliation, Iran has launched hundreds of drones and around 400 ballistic missiles toward Israeli targets, resulting in over 20 casualties, according to Israeli sources.
An Israeli military spokesperson stated that the country now has control over Iranian airspace and intends to intensify its offensive in the coming days.
US President Donald Trump has asserted that the hostilities could be quickly resolved if Iran agrees to American demands to impose strict limitations on its nuclear program.
Iran, however, maintains that its nuclear activities are solely for peaceful purposes and permitted under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), to which it is a signatory.
