Pakistan, Bangladesh pledge to boost historical, cultural ties

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed gratitude to Bangladesh for facilitating travel between the two countries by eliminating clearance requirements for Pakistani passport holders.
Shehbaz Sharif was attending the 11th summit of the Developing Eight (D-8) countries in Cairo, where he stressed the need for a ceasefire in Gaza as well as Syria during his address.
He met Bangladesh’s Chief Advisor, Dr Muhammad Yunus, and described it as a “warm and cordial exchange”, where the duo vowed to expand bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the historical and cultural relations between the two countries and underlined the keen desire to enhance bilateral cooperation in trade, people-to-people contact and cultural exchange.
Taking to X, PM Shebaz shared a picture with Dr Muhammad Yunus.
“We discussed strengthening historical and cultural ties, increasing trade, and exploring cooperation in IT, chemicals, leather, surgical goods and other sectors. Agreed to enhance people-to-people exchanges and align efforts for mutual development,” his post read.

Emphasising the bilateral ties between the two countries, he said, “Together, we reaffirmed our commitment to deepen bilateral and multilateral collaboration for the shared prosperity of our peoples.”
Both heads of the states appreciated Bangladesh cricket team's tour to Pakistan and a performance of Pakistani singer in Dhaka.
