The Met Office has predicted widespread rain and thunderstorms throughout the country from June 20 to 23, signaling the start of the first monsoon wave as seasonal currents move northward.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), major cities such as Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Peshawar, Swat, Abbottabad, and neighboring areas are likely to experience rainfall and thunderstorms, offering some short-term relief from the ongoing heatwave.
Rain is also expected in southern parts of the country, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Badin, Tharparkar, and Khuzdar, with light to moderate showers forecast in these regions.
Furthermore, a more intense spell of rain accompanied by strong winds is projected between June 22 and 24 in areas like Sukkur, Larkana, Dadu, and Jacobabad.
The Met Office has issued warnings about possible waterlogging in low-lying zones due to heavy downpours.
Authorities have been urged to stay vigilant and take necessary safety measures, while residents are advised to exercise caution during the expected wet weather conditions.
