Punjab traffic police to get new white-and-navy-blue uniforms

The traffic police uniform is set to change in Punjab, with personnel to wear white shirts and navy-blue trousers instead of the existing grey uniform, media reports said on Tuesday, citing police sources.

According to the reports, the new uniforms will be purchased for the traffic police during the current fiscal year.

The Lahore traffic police uniform was changed and a new uniform provided last year, according to police officials. The former Lahore CTO had provided Rs5,000 per traffic police official for the purchase of the uniform, the reports said.

They said approval for changing the traffic police uniform had been granted last year. The new uniform is to be introduced in Lahore in the first phase and across Punjab in the second phase.

Punjab Inspector General of Police Abdul Karim has approved the purchase of 12,000 new uniforms, the reports said.

The pre-qualification process for the purchase of uniforms for the traffic police and other Punjab Police units is expected to begin this week.
