Section 144 was imposed in Karachi on Saturday after a political party announced a rally against Israeli genocide in Gaza. However, another political party has also planned to initiate a movement against dumpers today.
The notification issued by the commissioner's office imposed a ban on rallies and demonstrations in District Central of Karachi.
The imposition of Section 144 came after Jamaat-e-Islami called for a citywide protest rally to oppose Israel’s actions in Gaza.
Jamat-e-Islami Emir Hafiz Naeem appealed to the people to take to the streets for the “children of Gaza.”
In addition, Muhajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi’s (MQM-H) Chairman Afaq Ahmed announced a "white flag movement" against dumpers and heavy vehicles that have caused numerous casualties due to reckless driving.

In an audio message, Afaq Ahmed stated that the Section 144 was imposed to prevent the protest against the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and its ally, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), claiming that these parties have a nexus.
He alleged that rangers raided and arrested workers and supporters of MQM-H from North Nazimabad, Nazimabad, Liaquatabad, Federal B Area, Malir, Shah Faisal, Mehmoodabad, claiming a nexus between both parties.
Afaq alleged that his party's workers and supporters were arrested during raids by police and Rangers. He also accused MQM-P of aiding law enforcement in a crackdown against his party.
“We are being prevented from holding a peaceful protest by arresting our people,” he added.
