A cold wave is expected to impact Karachi over the next two days, with temperatures expected to range between 9 and 11 degrees Celsius, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.

Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz forecasted an intense drop in temperatures as Siberian winds will sweep through the city from December 24.

The cold spell is expected to persist until December 25, bringing a noticeable chill to the metropolis.

Sarfaraz stated that the Siberian winds, blowing from the northeast at speeds of 25 to 35 kilometers per hour, will likely keep daytime temperatures around 25 degrees Celsius.

Nighttime temperatures during this period are predicted to dip to as low as 9 to 11 degrees Celsius, making it one of the coldest spells of the season for Karachi.

From the second week of January onward, the entire country, from Karachi to Kashmir, is expected to experience the first winter rains, as nature will form a cloud cover, according to weather expert Jawad Memon.

He predicted downpours from the second week of the new year. Not only rain but "upcoming systems would also cause a potential chill nationwide," he said while forecasting the weather updates.

Memon further explained that strong weather systems with western winds are predicted to impact the region from the beginning of January, enhancing the rainfall potential across the country.

Additionally, a strong weather system is expected to hit during the last week of December, bringing a pronounced wave of winter on December 20, 21, and 22. He remarked that this could be the strongest winter wave of the year.

While December is not expected to bring rainfall, an icy chill will persist across the country, with some cities likely seeing temperatures drop below freezing.
