Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah has claimed that the province has a better education system than other provinces.
Addressing a press conference, along with the Minister of Universities and Boards, Shah expressed concerns over the report, issued by the Planning and Commission of Pakistan titled ‘Education Programme Index Report’.
“It was an attempt to make the Sindh education system lower without knowing the ground realities, the entities in Islamabad playing the desk analyst role,” claimed the minister.
“We acknowledged that Sindh’s schools have devastated infrastructure, but this is due to natural disasters, such as unprecedented rains and floods that damaged 20,000 schools,” he said, adding commission’s report showed biases and made assumptions.
Shah quoted Unesco as saying, “Sindh has a better education than other provinces; it is concise and complete.”
According to the minister, at least 60,000 teachers were appointed in the province on merit, and the process was completed without neglecting the transparency aspect.
“No one is talking about the scarcity of teachers in Punjab while KP has empty schools,” he said.
Talking about the technology aspect of the inclusion index of the Planning Commission, the Provincial Minister said that there are deserts, mountains, and coastal areas in Sindh, and over 100,000 kilometres of land have network problems.
“In education statistics issued by the planning commission, Sindh’s Naushahro Feroze left behind half of Punjab KP," Shah noted while quoting the data of the report.
He added that Sindh's said district is better in the learning outcome than over 70 percent districts of Punjab.
